This place has top tier drinks, delicious food, and excellent ambiance. Hit it up sooner rather than later. The owners are apparently retiring. This is other place in Bakersfield I miss.

One of my preferred locations for delicious Mexican food. I often meet people here to talk. Staff treated us so nice. The bill was decent.

At the moment you enter that place the waiters give you a good feeling. Very warm hosts, it is a kind restaurant to pass time with friends or with your date. heavenly food, qualified chief cook and stuff, good cost and attentive service. Warmly recommended.

Cheeseburger in Paradise! Sure the Mexican food is good, but the secret is the variety of burgers. The cheeseburger is hearty and tasty as well. Think outside the box and order the burger and make sure to order the French fries extra crispy. Another secret is the NY steak and fried chicken. Crazy right? Not here! Our friends and family have been going to Mexicali for 40+ years and it's always a fun party atmosphere. Let me know what you think.

Classic Mexican cuisine surrounded by colorful Mexican styling. The menu is very large with choices that will make even the most discerning people happy. Not long ago they had 2 restaurants and as I understand it the owners decided to downsize to have more time for family.I also wanted to mention the margaritas. Frozen or on ice are great!

Sitting out here waiting for curbside order as I watch these waitresses serve all the white customers in fancy cars first. I’ve been waiting for an hour and nobody has come to my car.

If your from Bakersfield you know this place. It's by far the best Mexican food in town and they are great for lunch, dinner, and for groups. If your new to town, you must go and find out for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

Their Carne asada dinner is prob my favorite. I like going for lunch sometimes a getting a burrito especial. It's a great atmosphere and fun times with my family.

They recently closed Mexicali West which was very sad to a lot of people but they still have their downtown location. I absolutely love this place, bar seating is great but noisier than the dining room. We usually sit in the bar if it's just the 2 of us you can get their full menu in the bar. Their chips & salsa are so yummy warm chips and a nice smooth salsa than most which my hubby and I enjoy.

The best Mexican food in Bakersfield...after 70 years...they know how it's done. Other places come and go...this will always be my fave. I've had 40+ birthdays here and met my wife here. Miss my mom and dad when I'm there.... wonderful place.

Good food & great margaritas

I had my first chili relleno at Mexicali on Niles St in 1958. I have graded Mexican restaurants by that experience ever since, and not one has caused the sensory experience I enjoyed again last night, when I had the first taste of the first bite of my chili relleno....there should be angels singing right now..I hear them...

The omelet was good but the salsa was just stewed tomatoes. The decor was nice and service was very good.

Don't waste you money! The food is not that great since they moved to this location. It's sad how they went down hill. They constantly get orders wrong, and will refuse to do anything about it. They didn't even want to take their own food back!!! Just Horrible customer service. For good authentic food I will stick to Don pepes.

Mexican food and the feeling at this place is excellent. I wish there were more places like this around town. Certainly worth going back to. This place has many good reviews for a reason.

A family favorite for nearly half a century. Consistently great enchiladas, rice and beans since forever. I probably haven't had anything different since my favorite dish was a quesadilla as a kid, but I've never heard anyone complain about anything they've ordered in all that time either.

This was my first time here. Service wasn't great. Had to ask for a drink after i showed up to meet a group. We then had to ask to clear some of our table from empty dishes. Once food came out the waitress put a hot plate in reach of my friends baby. The meat nachos were almost meatless. I would consider this location for maybe the bar area, but never for a dine in experience. The table next to us hardly had service as well. It wasn't that busy and there was more than enough staff to accommodate the tables throughout. Being our entire table is in the food industry and we understand that, we tipped, but it most definitely wasn't earned.

My favorite location for tasty mexican food. got there about three, it wasn't crowded. the staff was very helpful and observant. this place has a great feel to it.

Great California Mexican Cuisine in a rambling Hacienda Style building. Great margaritas. This is a favorite location for Bakersfield families for over 60 years
